How I work

My Five Guiding Principles as a Chapel Hill, NC Realtor

As a Chapel Hill, North Carolina Realtor, my approach to real estate is grounded in five principles: integrity, communication, relationships, creativity, and service to others. These principles guide how I represent buyers and sellers, navigate negotiations, solve problems, and help my clients move confidently through the real estate process in Chapel Hill and throughout the Triangle.

Principle 1

Integrity

Integrity is at the core of how I live my personal life and how I conduct my real estate business. I hold myself to high standards and strive for excellence in the work I perform for every client.

At the same time, we are all human. Mistakes can happen, often unintentionally. I believe integrity also means having the humility to recognize when something could have been handled differently, taking responsibility, and making every effort to correct it.

Whether I am advising a buyer, representing a seller, reviewing a contract, or navigating a difficult situation, my clients deserve honesty, transparency, and someone they can trust to put their interests first.

Principle 2

Communication

Communication is key in real estate.

My goal is to keep you informed every step of the way. That includes explaining what is happening during negotiations, inspections, contracts, and the closing process, as well as keeping you informed about my communication with other agents and professionals involved in the transaction.

If you need me, please reach out. I never want a client to hesitate to ask a question or wonder what is happening with their purchase or sale.

Principle 3

Relationships

Real estate is relational.

For most people, buying or selling a home is one of the largest financial transactions they will ever make. Building trust matters. From the beginning of our work together through closing, I view us as a team.

Real estate can take you on a wild ride. There can be exciting highs as well as stressful, uncertain, and sometimes scary moments. My role is to walk beside you, help you understand your options, and guide you through those moments.

You are not navigating the process alone.

I also believe strongly in building exceptional professional relationships with my colleagues across all real estate brokerages. There is no reason for relationships between agents to automatically become adversarial. We can advocate strongly for our clients while still treating one another with professionalism and respect.

My background in psychology and counseling has taught me to listen carefully and work to understand what motivates people. Sometimes finding common ground is exactly what allows us to move a difficult negotiation forward.

I believe we attract more bees with honey. I am respectful and collaborative, but I also do not shy away from difficult conversations when they need to happen.

Principle 4

Creativity

No two real estate transactions are exactly alike, and challenges do not always come with obvious solutions.

Once we understand what matters to the people involved, we can begin looking for ways to solve the problem. Sometimes that means thinking outside the box. Sometimes it means asking more questions, bringing in the right professional, or seeking the perspective of a trusted and experienced colleague.

Where there is a will, there is often a way.

My goal is to help each of my buyers and sellers reach a successful closing. Getting there occasionally requires creativity, persistence, flexibility, and a willingness to explore another path when the first one does not work.

Problem-solving is one of the parts of real estate that I genuinely enjoy. When an obstacle arises, my first question is usually not Why can't we do this? but rather, What can we do to move forward?

Principle 5

Service to Others

Service to others speaks to the core of my why.

Why am I a real estate agent? Why do I do this every day? Why do I work so hard for my clients?

The answer is simple: I genuinely love helping people.

That desire to help others is what originally led me to earn my master's degree in counseling. Becoming a Realtor gave me another way to be of service.

I see my role as walking beside my clients—guiding, advising, explaining their options, and helping them determine what the right decision is for them in their particular circumstances. My job is not to make those decisions for you. It is to give you the information, professional guidance, and support you need to make them confidently.

For me, real estate has never simply been about houses. It is about people.

I am grateful every day for the opportunity to meet extraordinary people, earn their trust, and help them through an important chapter of their lives. Whether someone is purchasing a first home, selling a longtime family home, relocating to Chapel Hill, or simply trying to determine their next step, it is an honor to be part of that journey.

Integrity. Communication. Relationships. Creativity. Service to others.

Those are the principles that guide my business, and they are the standard I strive to bring to every client and every real estate transaction.
