Step 1: Your First Buyer Meeting

What to bring, what to ask, and what gets put in writing when you sit down to plan a Triangle home purchase.

The first meeting is about turning a general wish into a plan. It usually takes about an hour, in person at the Glen Lennox office or by video.

What we cover

  • Timing. Lease end dates, job start dates, school calendars, and how firm each one is.
  • Budget. The monthly payment you are comfortable with, not just the maximum a lender approves.
  • Must-haves versus preferences. Commute limits, single-level living, a home office, a yard, walkability.
  • The written buyer agreement. Since August 2024, North Carolina buyers sign a written agreement before touring. It sets out the services provided, how compensation is handled, and how long the agreement lasts. Every term is negotiable, and you should read it before you sign.

What to bring

  • Any lender conversations you have already had
  • A rough list of areas you have heard about
  • Questions — there are no basic ones

What you leave with

A short written summary: target areas, price range, timing and the next two or three actions. Most buyers move straight to prequalification after this meeting.
